Here’s Your Way to a Healthy Kitchen

When it comes to choosing a healthy lifestyle, we only talk about eating healthy and staying active. We tend to ignore the place from where it all began, i.e., Our Kitchen.
While magazines and infomericals make healthy kitchen seem effortless, the reality may slightly differ. Ensuring a healthy kitchen is not only about choosing the right kind of food or keeping it clean, but also building it with non-toxic natural materials.

Avoid This One Chemical in Your Kitchen
Formaldehyde is the most basic and naturally occurring organic chemical. It is also the most reactive, colorless, smelly, irritating gas that is a natural trace compound and an important ingredient in the manufacturing of industrial resins used in the board industry. Having said that, it is an essential component of the board-making process that cannot be replaced since no boards can be manufactured without this resin adhesive.
It exist as phenol-formaldehyde, urea-formaldehyde, or melamine-formaldehyde. This formaldehyde is emitted naturally throughout the board-making process. Formaldehyde’s harmful emissions contribute to bad health. At 0.1 ppm, these gases can cause difficulties with the eyes, nose, throat, skin, and breathing. Long-term exposure can result in cancer of the nose, throat, and lungs, and severe exposure can result in death. Our lungs, as we all know, are the most crucial part of our body that enabled us to stay strong even during the onslaught of COVID .
To prevent these issues, E1-Grade boards are widely accepted across Europe; they are safe to use and do not cause any harm.

Why should E1 Grade be a Part of a Healthy Kitchen?
E1 is a European formaldehyde emission standard that offers a formaldehyde emission limit of 0.07 ppm or below and is deemed safe for families. Anything exceeding this criterion should be taken seriously since it has a significant influence on the health of the consumer. Every piece of furniture or wood structure you buy for your house must be made from an E1-certified and appropriate material. If you are proactively concerned about the materials being used to make your kitchen and home a healthy environment, do select cabinets and other storage constructed solely of E1-certified materials. Selective brands incorporate only E1 grade boards in all of their products, as they are responsible organizations that care about their clients’ health.
Unfortunately, our country does not have a nationally recognized authority for particleboard certification. Hence, most Indian board manufacturers are not invested in this area, and this is concerning for interior product customers because there are no formal health hazard guidelines for interior construction materials in place. As a result, there is little or practically no control over the quantity of formaldehyde emitted from the boards. This is a trade-off between healthy living and price, as we, as Indian customers, frequently end up focusing solely on the price.
To speak about how these few brands achieve and meet global standards, there are only a few organizations that order E1-certified European boards from an E1-certified manufacturing company to manufacture interior custom products for their customers.
The critical issue one must address is, “Shouldn’t we sacrifice a few more dollars rather than risking our and our loved ones’ health?”
